THANK YOU FOR LOVING ME

When I first heard this song, I decided there and then that it will be "my wedding song". I will have to talk to my partner and get him to agree with me. In this song by Bon Jovi, he says that all he has to give are the five words "Thank you for loving me." Time and time again, we tend to become selfish in our thinking and in carrying out our tasks and our every day duties. In my own world, I sometimes forget that I do love the "one" in my life. However, when he remembers that I wanted some "nyama choma" (grilled meat) and when I leave the office and I find that he had already prepared it for me. Or; when he comes to visit with a bottle of wine because I had mentioned that I want to put my feet up and have a great book and a glass of wine to pass my evening. And when I tell him that I want to talk and despite his day, he will run down to meet with me so that he can listen to me, I remember that he truly does love me.

Its always the simplest of things that show how thoughtful one is. It does not have to be a grand gesture or gift to show love, thoughtfulness comes from simplicity. Its time to stop being selfish, I felt this song was the perfect summary of what I would wish to tell him. Then I remembered my "famous" poem book and pulled up this one.

BE BY MY SIDE
By my side, always abide,
Because only you have been due,
To have all my love.

By my side, always stride,
So that we may make our day,
In each others arms, and bring about warmth.

By your side I will always hide,
From the strong wind, and have peace of mind,
Because you are my crag, and my only pride.

Whom do you love? The one who treats you as if you are perfect even when you know you are not? Or...

Another Treasure

How do you feel when you have someone you truly love and adore? Someone who makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. That is exactly what I am talking about. I am not a teenager anymore, but I can certainly relate to these feelings. I do not have testosterone rushing through my blood as I write this. However, I know you have felt it once before and maybe more times than you can imagine.

When  you find that person with whom you enjoy the same type of entertainment, you read the same books and sometimes, even if on different paths, you are aiming to achieve almost the same goals. It is at this time that use each others' strength to build up towards your goals. How does that person make you feel? Warm, fuzzy, happy, excited? Even during the fights that you have, you always talk it through and all gets well with time doesn't it? These sentiments are mine as an adult, when I realise that you have to be strong enough to love yourself and other people and the reality of life reminds us that we should get into a relationship without losing ourselves.
'
However this poem  is based on the level of testosterone in my body at the time. Just the time when I was between thirteen and nineteen. My "teen" years. This also was dedicated to one KW.

Another Treasure
The splendour of the evening sun,
The magnificent silence that is around us,
The moment so magical,
That the charming stars can't help but smile upon us.
Beautiful, silent music playing in the background,
As I steal a glance upon the beauty that surrounds us,
I look back at you and gaze into your adoring brown eyes,
I lose my mind as I'm mesmerised by your gorgeous smile.
It's like we have the world all to ourselves,
And the time is on our side.
We have each other.
As the wonders of our love never cease,
As the time stays still.
For our passion to burn.

Who am I?

I remember very clearly why I wrote this poem and who it was all about. I had a huge crush on a guy called Kent. He was at the moment my barber. I was head over heels in love with him so I believed. I did not know that it was infatuation. I believed it was love and despite the fact that he was older than me, it did not matter. Age is nothing but a number. Secondly, he had a girlfriend but I knew love is patient so I waited for them to break up and I promised myself that I will be there to comfort him when that happens and I will be there for him throughout.

Five years down the line, Kent never broke up with his girlfriend and I was through with high school and we moved away.
I never forgot this and I never did let my love go without saying;

I think of you,
I think of me,
I think of us,
I think of love.

I see you,
I see me,
I see us,
I see love.

I feel you,
I feel me,
I feel us
I feel love.
#
For the love of my life, then, now and forever more. I will never forget you.

THANK YOU

These two words say more to any one and mean so much to everyone. We always feel grateful when we have been assisted, when we have solved a problem and when we are happy. But, how many times do you actually say it out loud... ? I had assisted a friend of mine solve a computer issue (me geek squad should read this and they should have been there, they can never believe me) Yes, I JN helped solve a computer related problem. When I completed it, it was not so complicated but I looked forward to a "thank you." when I did not get one, I felt crestfallen.

This second poem is to all my close friends, IW, IK, JA, DO, WM, JT, IB, KK and if I have not mentioned you, I am truly sorry. This is an old simple poem for my new and old friends.

Thank you for  your love,
Thank you for your friendship,
Thank you for your support.
And in the same way I try to
Do the same in return,
Your friendship from my soul,
Your lover from my heart and
Your support from my mind.
Thank-You!

MY POEM BOOK

A few months ago, I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine. Whereas I always thought that I give all my time to my friends, I came to find out, it was not so. I received a tongue lashing as to how inconsiderate and self-absorbed I was.I was on my way to a funeral at the time and I really could not stand to add anymore feelings of regret on my plate. However, I listened and then when my friend was done with the tongue lashing, I went then went on to listen about how hard my friend had it at the moment. My solace except exercising patience and trying my level best to apply Bible principles in how I chose to react to this particular situation, happens to be my poem book.

Over the years, I have written down my days, my feelings, my love and passion. I am not a professional writer so I will not apply many of the grammatically correct sentences or phrases in my poems but I enjoy them very much. I would like to share them with you. My first...

MY POEM BOOK
My only possession
My companion
My oasis in the desert
My only true love.
How can I give you up?
How can I let you go?
How can I forget you?
How can I get on without you.
My thoughts,
My feelings,
My love,
To whom would I give
With whom shall I share
You are so precious to me,
And my secrets you keep
My fears you hold.
What could I have done without you.
With me you always are,
With you away from me,
I feel completely lost.
I love you so very much.
****END****

I must have been quite young when I wrote this poem. I love how simple it is. In part the preface reads "This book is a dedication to many and one being Jean Ashers; a friend and my best friend, as a token of appreciation for love, friendship and kindness and especially foe making me believe in myself."

I look forward to sharing with you the many poems that took me through teenage hood.
